Jerrel Peterson manages global policy development within the Trust & Safety team at Twitter. He joined the team in 2015, which works to safeguard the user’s voice through policies and strategies that promote trust in Twitter.
After graduating from Cornell University, Jerrel began his career in the nonprofit sector providing direct services to vulnerable populations including low income families and individuals with severe mental illness. In an effort to build a bridge between what was happening on the ground and more macro systems and structures, he earned a Masters degree in Social Work with a focus on Public Policy from the University of Maryland and served as a Policy Analyst intern at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Additionally, he worked as a west coast regional Policy Analyst for a national nonprofit dedicated to increasing economic opportunity for young adults.
Jerrel is invested in leveraging research and strategic partnerships to address complex social and political issues. Working in both corporate and nonprofit organizations, he has excelled at developing results-oriented policies and recommendations, maintaining a strong understanding of consumer needs, and translating complex information for diverse stakeholders.
