Mission (Im)Possible: One Map+Thousand Connected Schools of Social of Work Around the World. (Canada)
The Schools of Social Work Around the World Asset Map is an innovative way to connect social workers, social work educators, current and future social work students, and everyone who is passionate about the development of social work profession and education globally.
The Google Map technology and the Asset Mapping community development tools were used to create the map of Schools of Social Work that is available and accessible worldwide. The current map includes more than 1500 Schools of Social Work, and the list keeps growing with the long-term goal to map all Schools of Social Work before 2020 (the year when the new IASSW census will be released). Currently, Dr. Kondrashov has collected information and fully mapped all the Schools of Social Work in the following countries: Ukraine, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Switzerland (please click on hyperlinks to see the completed information sheets of Schools of Social Work in selected countries).
The use of Schools of Social Work Around the World Asset Map has a potential to build partnerships and collaborations among universities that offer social work degrees and provide needed data on the current state of development of social work education around the world.
